3 Tips To Look After Your Wellbeing and Mental Health

As a Life coach to women over 50 I know how important it is to make sure you are looking after your wellness. wellbeing and mental health. I am sure you already realise your health is the key factor in everything you do. To be confident and happy you need to be healthy and mentally alert.

We all know that feeling when you are not on top form, perhaps suffering from lack of sleep, running around after the family or to much time in front of the box making you feel lethargic. Sometimes you just don’t feel so good about yourself and feel rubbish - which has a knock on effect pushing your confidence and happiness aside, sending you in a downward spiral of a couldn’t care less attitude, feeling you have no purpose in life.

Your wellbeing and wellness should be at the heart of everything you do, so it's vital to look after yourself. As wives, mothers and daughters we spend far too long running around after everyone else don't we? It’s easy to forget to look after ourselves, putting other peoples needs before our own.

The fact is that If you don’t take time to look after you then you will not have the energy or mental ability to look after your others. You owe it to yourself to look after your wellbeing.

3 Tips to help you stay well and keep on top of your mental wellbeing

1.Book yourself out some time in the day just for you. Sit in the garden if the weather is suitable, concentrate on your breathing and just sit and listen to the sounds around you. Hear them and accept they are there and return your thoughts back to your breath.

2.Make sure you are getting enough exercise. Every day you should be doing something to keep active - a walk, run, gardening - anything to keep you mobile. Exercise will help release the happy endorphins in your body and make you feel good.

3.Have regular contact with your friends and family. As the saying goes - it's good to talk. A problem shared is a problem halfed. We are creatures that need other human contact in some shape or form and talking is a great way to feel heard and break down any issues you have before they become a mountain out of a mole hill! Bottling things up can make small things seem way out of prospective. Also don't forget to listen to others as this is something invaluable. Everyone likes to feel they have been heard and it's good for us all to unload!
